Valentines Day and Presidents' Day Weekend

   Between Valentine's Day, a special concert, and a little Presidents' Day trip to Charleston, we have had quite the fun-filled week.    Last weekend, Susannah and I went to an orchestra performance at the Kennedy Center.   It was a children's concert that featured music that was inspired by a book called, "The Man with the Violin."    We went with some friends from Susannah's class and had such a fun afternoon exploring the beautiful Kennedy Center and hearing one of the most famous violinists in the world.  

   And then Tuesday was an extra special day because not only was it Valentine's Day, it was also Susannah's 100th day of school.   This is a big celebration and the entire school participates.   Thursday morning the fun continued when we flew down to Charleston to visit Aunt Liz and Uncle Will and CK and Jack.   Thank you guys for being such amazing hosts.   And thanks to Aunt Nancy for driving over to see us too!   Here are the pictures of all the fun.......

Before the concert, they had a "instrument petting zoo" set up so that the kids could try out all the instruments.   

Susannah said the cello was her favorite.

After the concert, Joshua Bell gave autographs so Susannah was pumped to get her book signed.

After school I had to take a picture of Susannah in her "100 days smarter" hat.

The girls had so much fun spreading all their valentines out in the living room.

When we left the airport, we drove straight to one of our favorite restaurants on Shem Creek.   

We walked around the marsh on the boardwalk paths until the restaurant opened.

After lunch we drove by Peter's old college apartment.   It looked exactly the same as it did thirteen years ago.   

Then we headed over to the Citadel to show the girls where their daddy went to college. 

We happened to be there in between classes so the girls got to see all the cadets racing to class.

We had to go and find Daddy's name on the wall.  

And we got all of our energy out playing tag on the parade deck. 

After stopping by the gift shop for some t-shirts, it was time to head to Beaufort to see our cousins!   The girls were so excited about seeing CK and Jack. 

The next morning we headed out into the sunshine to check out the adorable waterfront park in downtown Beaufort.  

We had a delicious seafood picnic.

And relaxed on these swings by the water.

We took an awesome family bike ride around the neighborhood and on the green-way.

When Susannah got tired, I pulled both these girls while Peter carried her bike while riding his.   These girls are always keeping things interesting.  ;)

It was the perfect way to spend the morning.    Unfortunately, the fun slowed down a bit after that because SA came down with a pretty nasty stomach virus.    

She was still feeling pretty yucky on our flight home yesterday but she powered through like a trooper.

This morning the fun continued for Peter and Susannah when they headed off to a private screening of Star Wars: A New Hope.  One of Susannah's classmates rented the theater and invited all of his friends and their families.   Susannah is completely obsessed with Star Wars right now so it a big morning for her.   

She brought her light saber and her yoda doll and wore her star wars shirt just to make sure she was in the full spirit.   ;)

Popcorn and Star Wars at 8:30 am?   Yes, please.  ;)

February is here already?

This will be short as time has been flying by to fast for me to even take pictures!   This elementary school thing has increased the speed of time and I am not a fan.   The idea that Susannah will be in first grade next year makes me have heart palpitations.   Here are the few photos from the last couple of weeks......

Sarah Avery and I hang out at the community center on Monday nights while Susannah has her ballet class.   This little one is growing so fast and with the exception of a little regression when she was sick last week, is still killing it with her potty training.

Her favorite game right now is doctor check up.   She gives everybody check-ups.   Her favorite patient is Meadow.   

We woke up to snow one morning last week.   The roads were clear so school was in, but we let them play in the backyard for a few minutes before breakfast.  

We are still waiting for a big legit snowstorm, but this one was a fun surprise.  

One of Susannah's' friends came over after school last week and they decided to have an indoor picnic.

Sarah Avery is always so delighted to be included with the big girls.

Friday Susannah didn't have school, but SA did.   It was a rare chance to spend some quality time with my big girl.   We ran errands and stopped for coffee (and a cupcake).

Saturday afternoon we did our Valentine's Day Cards.  

Susannah had to write one for every classmate as a little homework assignment.   I wasn't allowed to help.   

She picked Star Wars valentines and SA picked Paw Patrol.   Or puppies, as she calls it.   ;)
