October has been full of fall fun here in Alexandria. The girls have settled into school and Peter and I are enjoying our classes. We have been taking full advantage of our autumn weekends and have made some really fun memories, including a couple of trips to the pumpkin patch, a day of apple picking and a camping trip. Here are the photos:
We are so proud of Sarah Avery, our little kindergardner.
She loves school and we love getting these picture updates from her sweet teacher.
This is my view every morning before school. Susannah cracks me up in her sunglasses.
Sarah Avery's class planted some pansies in the school garden and she loves checking on them when we play after school.
All dressed for "wear green to fight bullying" day.
Last weekend we spent Saturday morning at our favorite pumpkin patch.
Actual water comes out when you milk this toy cow.
Each of the girls gave it a go.
Pumpkin fun.
We love this pumpkin wall every year.
Who knew that so many different types of pumpkins existed?
The next day was one Susannah had been looking forward to for weeks: Daddy-Daughter camping! A few of the Dads from our supper club took the oldest girls on an overnight camping trip.
Meanwhile, Sarah Avery and I enjoyed a super fun afternoon.
We rode bikes at one of our favorite parks.
And played on the playground.
Sarah Avery was so excited that Mommy climbed and slid too.
Then it was time for pedicures!
Relaxing with one of her new library books
Next up: Tacos!

Back at the campsite, these three girls were cooking their own hot dog dinner.
Daddy let Susannah have as many s'mores as she wanted. ;)
The next day they all tackled a 5 mile hike through the woods.
Susannah loved every single second.

Best Daddy ever
Im sure these three will be begging for a spring trip just like this one.
Sarah Avery and I were lucky because we got to go back to the pumpkin patch on her first kindergarten field trip.
I loved watching her play with her new friends.
We had the best morning together.
McKenna and Caroline have quickly become SA's best friends.
And they all three love Ms. Shaner, their sweet teacher.
On Friday afternoon they all came home with me for a playdate. I can't believe my baby is so big!
This past weekend we drove out to the Virginia wine country to pick apples. Our first stop was to say hi to the donkeys.
We had the most beautiful blue sky weather so we were all in great spirits.
The girls each had a bag to fill with apples.
It was so nice to be out of the city and breathe the fresh air.
These two loved it.
So did Daddy.
They had a great time climbing this tree and using it as a playhouse while Peter and I listened to the live music.
We were extra lucky because this Saturday happened to be the apple bake off so we were judges and tasted so many delicious apple treats.
Love this picture
And this one.
Peter brought his camera so I am actually in a few pictures!
The girls loved being able to run in the open spaces.
We ended up a with a peck of beautifu fuji and stayman apples.
And said goodbye to the sweetest old horse on our way out.
Once we were home we had to decide what to do with all of these apples??
Sunday was a rainy day so we stayed in our pjs and baked up a storm.
A delicious apple crisp and some homemade apple sauce were our reward.
