Halloween 2019 has come and gone. I can't believe how fast this fall has flown by, but here we are in November. Here are the pictures from our last few weeks, including all of the Halloween fun:
| The week before Halloween, I chaperoned The 3rd grade field trip to Huntley Meadows Park. |
| It also happened to be Crazy Hair Day which is why Susannah's looks, well.....crazy. ;) We had the most beautiful fall weather and fun was had by all. This is Ellie, Susannah's friend. |
| I loved getting to spend the morning outdoors with my girl. |
| Last Sunday was the Fall Festival at our church so the girls were pumped to try out their costumes. Susannah has been planning to be a news reporter since last November. She interviewed everybody. ;) Sarah Avery was Butterbean, from her favorite cartoon, Butterbean's Cafe. |
| I had to take a picture to remember this tradition as I doubt it happens in Ukraine. ;) Every year we get "Booed" by some friends and then we pay it forward to another family. Booing someone basically means leaving them a bunch of Halloween junk from the dollar bins at Target, but the kids LOVE it. :) |
| These girls were ready for some Fall Fest fun. |
| Our annual Halloween decorations were on display, and I finally figured out how to keep the squirrels off of our pumpkins. (hair spray and red pepper.) |
| First stop at the Fall Fest was the train ride. Susannah was reporting live. ;) |
| Then inside for games. |
| And Fishing. |
| Exclusive interview with Sally Ride. |
| Face painting of course. |
| A carousel ride that broke my heart because SA was the biggest kid on it and Susannah was too big. It is so strange how I spent the first few years of motherhood praying time would go faster and now all I do is pray for it to slow down. |
| We grabbed snow cones for the walk home. It was such a great way to start Halloween week. |
| Monday night when Peter got home, they carved our pumpkin. |
| And before we knew it, Halloween was here. We had our traditional pizza party at our friends, the Buchanan's. |
| Before hitting the streets early to beat the stormy weather that was on its way. |
| These two had a blast. |
| We had worried all week about the weather, but it turned out to be perfect. They didn't even need jackets! |
| Their buckets were getting heavy by then. |
| Our neighborhood loves Halloween and there are awesome decorations in almost every yard. |
| Susannah interviewed several of the neighbors who were handing out candy. |
| When we got home, it was time to sort through our massive amount of candy! |
| This weekend, the girls and I baked pumpkin cupcakes for the George Mason bake sale. |
| I love being in the kitchen with them. |
| Then that afternoon, while Peter and I watched football, the girls had a little movie party for Sarah Avery's stuffed animals. Susannah has been reading Charlotte's Web to Sarah Avery (and her animals) every night before bedtime, so when they finished, they wanted to show the animals the movie. They even made pretend popcorn and other snacks for the animals. Like I said, praying for time to stand still over here in Alexandria. ;) |
We hope that all of you had a Happy Halloween! We hope to see a lot of you over the holidays! All of our love from Virginia!
