Hotel Mallory

Happy Easter to everybody!  I wanted to publish a post before I forget all of the details of our recent visitors.  We have been so lucky to have visitors two recent weekends.  First Uncle Hollis, Aunt Kristy and baby Presley came and then Grammy was here for a long weekend soon after.  Here are the pictures.......

Sarah Avery wanted her picture made with Honey one morning.  Can't you tell how much Honey loves it?

We have been enjoying the spring sunshine at the recently remodeled park near our house.

I don't have a photo of it, but the slides and climbing structures are legit.  The girls love it.

We had a sad goodbye this month as well because our beloved crossing guard Ms. Wanda moved away.   Both the girls still talk about how much they miss her.

The first night Uncle Hollis was here we all went out to a pizza dinner.  The girls adore baby Presley.

And we spent our Saturday morning at Oxen Hill Farm.  Feeding the chickens is always a highlight.

These two never get tired of this place.

/We took the ranger directed wagon ride and had great views of Alexandria.

And then we fed the horses some celery that we brought for them.

This was a favorite for all the kiddos.

Susannah is back at it with her soccer playing.  She has been playing really well so far this season and has already scored 2 goals.

And then before we knew it, Grammy was here!

The girls were so excited to see their Grammy.

Meanwhile, Peter was in Asheville for his annual Citadel friend reunion.

One night we made chocolate chip pancakes for Grammy.

Sarah Avery showed her a little bit of how she is learning to read.

Peter had  a great weekend with his friends and enjoyed this beautiful mountain scenery.

They even did a little fishing.

While we did a little brunching.

We had the nicest brunch in the spring sunshine.

On Sunday morning we went to church.

The girls were excited to wear the new dresses Grammy bought them.

Last week was bible character day at Sarah Avery's school.   She was queen Esther.

She had to give her class clues so they could guess who she was and she spent the morning practicing.

She is growing up so fast.

The same day was Susannah's Native American Museum at school.

Her class has been studying three tribes all spring and they were so excited to show the parents all they had learned.
This weekend was a fun first for Susannah when we went to her first baby shower.  This is Ms. K, her kindergarten teacher .  We were sooo excited to help her celebrate.

Yesterday afternoon we went for a walk through the bird sanctuary that is in our neighborhood.  It was so nice and peaceful.

Made us think we may be ready for a real (but still short) hike one of these days.

Today is our first day of spring break so we did some easter baking in our pjs this morning.
Susannah made lemon bars for the first time and they turned out great!

So that is what we have been up to in April.  Thank you to Uncle Hollis, Aunt Kristy, baby Presley and Grammy for wonderful visits.  We love you all!
