Merry Christmas 2021!

Merry Christmas from Kyiv!  Now that we have had a couple of days to relax and enjoy the calm after the storm of gifts and wrapping and parties and food, I wanted to share photos from our holiday season.  We missed family, but made the most of our second Ukrainian white Christmas.

Peter and I squeezed in a date night before holiday break.  The tree behind us was made entirely of champagne bottles and crystal.

The tree was so pretty with all the presents underneath.

The girls had a great time at the neighborhood December book club.

KIS was really festive this year and had an entire Christmas spirit week.  On this day, Susannah was dressed as Mrs. Claus.

We went downtown for dinner and Christmas lights one day.

The main tree wasn't lit yet, but we found some good twinkle lights.

And some insane oreo hot chocolate.

A cookie kit from our neighbor made cookie decorating extra fun this year.

The girls made some beautiful creations.  :)

We were so happy to have Daddy home with us for a few days.

We went to the coolest ice skating rink with friends on our first day of holiday break.

The girls did great.

The rink was huge and had this cool tunnel in the middle.

We went the day before the temperature plummeted into the teens so we weren't too cold.

We had lunch at a mall food court across from the rink and enjoyed the holiday decorations in the mall.

Day 2 of winter break was cinnamon roll day!

We love this tradition even though it is time consuming and makes a huge mess.  :)

I think our neighbors love it too.

On the 23rd we had a special visitor to the neighborhood.

This Santa has a Ukrainian accent but he brings good candy canes.

We love our neighbors!

Christmas Eve sausage balls.

Christmas Eve Pajamas!!

This year Honey and Sally matched too.

Watching Elf by the fire.

"T'was the night before Christmas"

The girls left Santa some awesome goodies this year.

Christmas morning smiles

Big presents were Hamilton dresses and a Wii.

The girls love their Peggy and Eliza dresses.

This girl was so excited for Christmas morning!

Santa brought some new books.

Susannah loves her Hamilton book.

Sam left a goodbye note on the mantle.

Sally destroyed most of her new toys by noon.

Peter made some delicious Christmas bloody marys.

Which we drank while watching the Christmas Eve service.  (We really miss going to a real church for Christmas Eve, but our online church does an amazing nativity, so we watched on Christmas Day after lighting our advent candles for the last time.)

And now we are anxiously awaiting the British government's announcement about further travel restrictions to see if we can move forward with our trip on Jan. 1.  Fingers crossed.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our friends and family.  We love and miss you all!
