February and March

Life has been full as usual, which has caused me to neglect blogging.  This is my best effort at catching up on all that has happened over the past two months, including our quick spring break trip and our Easter celebrations.  Here are the highlights.......

We finished up Girl Scout cookie sales.  

Peter and Susannah went to see Nate Bargetze perform in DC. 

We hosted Sarah Avery's basketball team for donuts after their last game of the season.  She loved having Peter as one of her coaches. 

I enjoyed a dinner out with my ladies to celebrate a birthday  

Peter and I got away to Rehobeth Beach, Delaware for a weekend.  Here we are having a fantastic seafood dinner.  

We took advantage of the sunny Saturday weather and rented bikes to explore the beachside trails. 

We ended up in Lewes at an awesome brewery for lunch.  

The trails were so beautiful and well-maintained.  We rode 18 miles in total.  It was such a fun way to spend the day together. 

The beachside boardwalk was fun for people-watching.  

But the best part was the cozy Inn where we stayed.  We enjoyed a cocktail and some checkers by the fire before heading out for one more dinner. 

We squeezed in one more beach stroll on Sunday morning before heading back to Alexandria.   

Sarah Avery and her little gang of school lunch buddies love it when a parent joins them. 

Lacrosse started up as soon as basketball finished.  This was Susannah playing in her first game of the year. 

We spent the first day of spring break getting fresh new haircuts.  

SA wanted to keep her hair long.  

So fun to be back in our back yard for Easter egg dying.  

We spent the second half of Spring Break on the Shenandoah River outside of Luray.  Our cabin had a beautiful view.  Sally was happy to be included in the trip. 

Peter and Sarah were excited to fish together.  

Susannah and I were excited to read our books by the fire pit and enjoy the view.  

We also spent lots of time in the hot tub.  

We took Sally on her first mountain hike.  Everyone was eager to get started at the trailhead.  

Mary's Rock was challenging but fun and worth the good views at the top. 

These two were fantastic hikers.  

The next day Susannah and I decided to tackle a longer, steeper hike just a few yards from our cabin.  

It was tough......2000 feet of elevation climb in the first 2 miles.  But we made it to the top with energy to spare.  

So we opted to finish the whole 10. 5-mile trek along the ridgeline.   

Susannah killed it----she set the pace the entire hike.  

The views of both valleys were amazing.  

Way too quickly, we were back at home.  Sad our trip was over but excited to open our Easter gifts from Grammy.  

And that night, the Easter Bunny came.  

It is always fun to see what is in the baskets.  

And then it was time for church. 

And our annual lunch and egg hunt with the Supper Club.  

The most recent excitement was spending the day at George Mill's Farm to snuggle the baby goats.  

We did this last year and have been looking forward to going back.  

What better way to spend an hour than in a pen with 30 newborn baby goats??

Susannah had rehearsal so Sarah Avery brought her friend, Maggie. 

We even got to meet one of the working dogs on the farm.  This is Hank.  He stayed back at the barn with the new mom goats while the other dogs took the herd out to pasture.  He was the cutest.  

Now we are home and resting before a big Sunday of church and Lacrosse games for both girls.  We love and miss you all!
