School's Out for Summer!

School is officially out for the summer and all the fun has already begun!  Here are the highlights from the school year's end and the start of summer break.

Peter, Sarah, and I escaped the heat dome on Saturday by spending the day at the Air and Space Museum by Dulles Airport.  It was super cool and Peter was a fantastic guide.  :)

SA spent her first week of summer at M and M week where they practiced and performed a musical about Mary and Martha.  Their performance was fantastic!

We've been spending lots of time at the pool.

Susannah spent her first week of summer with her friend Zoe's family in Martha's Vineyard.

We missed her but she had a wonderful time.

They drove and took the ferry to the island.

I spent an evening at The Library of Congress listening to Natalie Merchant play old folk music to celebrate the opening of a new exhibit.  It was a delightful time.

The last day of 4th grade for these girls!

And last day of 7th for our teenager.

They will both be ruling their schools next year as 5th and 8th graders.

Another fun way to open the summer season is by spending a Sunday afternoon at the ballfield.

We had the best time watching the Nats beat the Braves.

It felt like a rite of passage because this was the first time we stayed for an entire game.  Having big kids has its perks!

The weather was perfect and we were grateful.

I volunteered at SA's field day and had a blast watching these girls do all the activities.

Like bouncy house obstacle course races

And sack races

The first weekend of June was my much-anticipated girl's trip.  This year we stayed right next door in Louden County.

We enjoyed the most perfect weather.

And did a great hike.

We were so glad Jen could join us from Indiana.

And having my oldest friend Lyndsey join us is always such an added bonus!

While I was away, SA finished up her Girl Scout year with a horseback riding lesson.

It was the perfect way to end her girl scouting years.

As you can see, we are off and running with our summer fun.  Headed to Knoxville in a few days and then on to Nashville, LaGrange, and Gulf Shores.  Can't wait to hug so many of our friends and family.  We love and miss you all!
