Long time no see...

Back in early July we had a great crew of visitors pass through Strasbourg. Our friends Elizabeth and John from Nashville and Leah and David from LaGrange came over to Strasbourg for a week and then we traveled to Cinque Terre, Italy together.

Elizabeth and Leah came over a week before the guys so that all three girls could take a girls trip together.


The girls spent a couple of days over in Munich, Germany. Whit will have to post more about this after she returns from her trip in the states.


The guys made it over to Strasbourg and they were extremely happy to be free from the cofines of that trans-Lant flight.

In order to take advantage of the unseasonably warm temperatures in Strasbourg we decided to have a pique-nique in the park across from the house.

Our French style pique-nique consisted of the assorted cheese plate from the local fromager in Strasbourg and Whitney made some of her delicious pasta salad and we served it all with a couple of bottles of Alsatian white wine (le meilleur, a mon avis).


We had a blast with everyone in Strasbourg and we really took the opportunity to see Strasbourg and experience the Alsatian and French cultures.



I even convinced Leah to make a trip into town with me by bike. One of the best parts about living in France, especially Strasbourg, is the ease of biking or walking everywhere. We go by foot or bike to just about any place in the city and we hardly drive our car. It is a fun, not to mention healthy, aspect of living in France.

Of course John and David timed their trip perfectly to coincide with the World Cup that was taking place in Africa. The mutiny and subsequent implosion of the France team was quite a shock over here, but we only live 5 miles from Germany so we started cheering for them.

On the Saturday before our departure to Cinque Terre, Italy we scooted across the border to Kehl, Germany and found a nice, cool beer garden to watch Germany's quarter final World Cup match.

Germany stomped Argentina 4-0 in the match. For those of you who have never experienced this World Cup craze it is quite amazing. Even though it was only a quarter final victory the whole town erupted in a party....and of course we joined in.




Coming up the six of us take off for Cinque Terre, Italy. Probably one of the coolest places I have ever seen. Stay tuned.
