The little coastal town of Collioure

Before I share some pics of our time in Collioure, I wanted to give everybody an update on my ever-increasing size..........

This is me last week at 32 weeks. Considering how I'm growing everyday though, I already look bigger than that! Tomorrow, we will officially have 7 weeks left until the due date, so that means we have 7 weeks until this blog transitions from a really exciting travel blog to a "guess who rolled over for the first time?" baby blog.

Okay, now for some pictures of one of our favorite places in France. Collioure is on the Mediterranean, but so much more our kind of beach town than St. Tropez. It was the inspiration for several famous painters including Matisse and Picasso. Here are some pics that make it obvious why.......

The tiny church on the rocky point was such a beautiful addition to the sunsets.

In between the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, we spent our days enjoying the beautiful blue mediterranean......and, unlike in St. Tropez, we could even afford to spring for our own chairs and umbrellas. Nothing better than a relaxing day on a beautiful beach with a view of an 800 year old castle......

So impressed were we with the inexpensive prices in Collioure compared to St. Tropez, we decided to spring for a cataraman sailboat excursion for some snorkling and boating fun in the sun........We found great seats for the ride, right in front of the fun trampoline seats on the front of the boat, but also with a backrest for the pregnant lady......

After a 45 minute ride, we pulled into a cove backed by rolling hills that was perfect for snorkling. Possibly the bluest (and coldest) water I've ever seen.

After swimming and a delicous lunch grilled and served on-board, we were ready for a nap on the comfy trampoline....

Even the walk back from the boat dock provided us with a photo-op view of our little village....

Our last night in town provided us with the most breathtaking of sunsets, complete with rougher seas that created the most beautiful sea-spray against the rocks. You can't ask for better after-dinner entertainment than a street musician playing with this as your view and an ice cream cone in your hand......

On our way out of town, we drove up through the mountain vineyards to a hike we had read about that offered more amazing views. Both the drive and the hike turned out to be a little on the frightening side, as both involved very steep drop-offs and very narrow roads/trails (actually, in hindsight, we are pretty sure we parked at the wrong trail head and actually climbed to the viewing point on a trail that isn't even used anymore.) But we made it and it was the perfect way to end this leg of our drive around France........

Next stop, Mont Blanc!!!
