Settling into the sunshine

Well, after what has been a whirlwind 2 weeks, we have finally gotten settled and unpacked. The normal chaos that comes with moving to a new place was magnified by the need to replace all of the necessities we lost to the mold and the arrival of Susannah's top two teeth. We have made it through the storm and are happily enjoying the California sunshine on the other side though. During the past few days we have started to really take in some of the highlights of the area and we are LOVING it.
One of our first orders of business is to try and find a church family. Here is Susannah in her Sunday finest....

After church we had family lunch in the sunshine.

The Sunday fun continues in the evenings too, as the island has a summer concert series in the park. Last week was a fun 80's band. It seemed like the entire island was there, picnicking and dancing. Susannah and her new friend Leyton had a great time.

Here they are dancing:
And of course, the first second we had a chance, we had to go check out the famous Coronado beaches......

Susannah loved the beach.....

She was covered in sand after 5 minutes though.....

Definitely looks like she is going to be quite happy as a California girl.
Maybe the single thing that Peter missed the most when we were in France was grilling. He loves to grill and our new backyard is perfect.
Our first real family meal was delicious.....shrimp and pineapple.....yum.
And now that Susannah has a couple of teeth, she is enjoying all sorts of new and excited culinary treats--her favorite so far....old fashioned cheerios.

We also found time to hop over the bridge to the San Diego zoo. It lived up to all the hype.....pretty fantastic. We saw all sorts of animals, including this adorabel koala bear:

And this lion:
And this polar bear:

Unfortunately, Susannah slept through all of those animals, but after lunch, she was all about exploring the rest of the zoo with her Daddy.
This was her favorite animal though...

Another day we had lunch at Kansas City BBQ downtown. This is where the "Great Balls of Fire" piano scene from Top Gun was filmed. Here is Susannah eating in front of the sign.

Safe to say, we absolutely love our new home. Now that we are settled, I'm hoping to get caught up on posts from our time in the Southeast.
