The holiday season is well under way here in Alexandria and we are soaking in all of the American tradition we can! Mimi and Poppy came to stay for Thanksgiving, which made it super special. The girls loved being with grandparents and I loved the convenience of cooking in a large kitchen with two ovens! It was like a dream. Here are the pictures from our Thanksgiving week.....
SA's school has a little thanksgiving tradition lunch called Stone Soup. They sing a little song and make the soup and the parents are invited for the festivities.
It amazes me every time I see her walking in a little line like a big girl.
She tasted the soup but then decided she didn't like it. So we only stayed for a bit before heading home for cheese and crackers.
Peter finally finished the yard and it looks amazing! We are so excited for spring so we can spend every afternoon out here!
The Saturday before Thanksgiving we headed to check out the Smithsonian zoo. First stop was the cheetahs. Susannah was so pumped to get to see two of them.
That's a panda playing with a pink toy.
The seals were especially playful too.
The girls were mesmerized watching them flip and twirl.
The carousel was a big hit.
Susannah rode the cheetah of course.
Fun memories
So were Mimi and Peter
These two loved their poppy!
We celebrated Poppy and Susannah's birthdays with pecan pie and candles.
Mimi and Poppy left on Friday, right before the next big event occurred......Susannah lost her first tooth.
And by lost, I mean she actually lost it. As in, we still don't know where it is, though we are guessing it is somewhere in her digestive system.
She wrote this letter for the tooth-fairy and left it under her pillow. And the tooth-fairy honored her request. She was so excited to find those two dollars!
Saturday we headed out into the cold to find the 2016 Mallory Family Christmas Tree.
Peter wanted a picture of it loaded on top "National Lampoon" style. "My eyes are frozen, daddy. "It's all part of the fun girls!"
Sarah Avery has been loving the tree and the little nativity play-set. And as always, she still loves Meadow the most in the world. ;)
