Our first two weeks of summer have been fun-filled and memorable. We spent ten days in Knoxville and had the best time staying at Grammy's house. And then we came home in time to celebrate July 4th with friends here in Alexandria. Here are the pictures.
The girls were so excited to spend time with their Grandmama.
And Grammy took them on their annual trip to the Disney Store.
This year they picked these hooded blankets which are still a big hit.
Grammy kept the girls one night so I could meet my childhood friends for dinner and drinks. Thanks Grammy!
We took the girls to the Oak Ridge Children's Museum one day and they had a blast.
Honey likes being at Grammy's too!
Grammy's house is fun because she has a great shaded park just a block or two away so we spent a lot of time there.
Susannah getting her monkey bar workout in.
Crazy girls.
They seemed so big this trip.
We spent one day with my oldest friend Lyndsey and her mom Betty.
We took the kids to a museum on the University of Tennessee's campus and then walked around a bit.
My Georgia Bulldogs were happy to take a photo with their second favorite mascot, Smokey. ;)
Susannah and Ellie were happy to see each other.
After Betty treated us to a delicious brunch, we headed back to her house for a pool party.
Sarah Avery loved trying on Grammy's lipstick.
We spent another afternoon swimming at Ms. Betty's.
I practically grew up in this house so it makes me so happy that my girls get to make memories here too. Thank you Betty and Lyndsey!!
Grammy and I took the girls to a little pop up children's museum at her local mall and the girls had a blast playing with the stage and costumes.
And of course, the girls had to make biscuits with Grandmama.
This is one of their favorite traditions.
They love making them and eating them. ;)
The girls always love going to Grammy's church so we were glad to do that the two sundays we were there.
And we loved seeing Uncle Andy and Aunt Susan too!
Grandmama braided the girls' hair.
So they wanted a picture.
Another day we met up with my childhood frend Amy for a lunchdate at their neighborhood pool. Susannah loved playing with her daughter Scarlett and we all enjoyed the pool on the hot day.
After one more biscuit making session
And one more storytime with Grammy, it was time to head back home to Virginia.
We were so happy to be home in time to spend the 4th with friends at our neighborhood pool.
We ordered pizza and had ice cream.
Peter was really relaxed.
We love adult swim time. ;)
He was trying to get the girls to give him a foot massage while they waited to get back in, but I don't think they obliged.
July 5th was a day we had been waiting for.......Harry Potter at the WolfTrap!
We had tickets to see The Goblet Of Fire live with the National Symphony Orchestra and we were excited!
We had lawn tickets so we packed a picnic and hung out while we waited for the show to start.
Please not Susannah is in her full Hermione costume and everybody has their wands. We were into it. ;)
Almost time for the show to start! I coulldn't believe it because SA stayed awake for almost the entire movie. It was such a fun way to spend a summer night.
Other than that, the girls have been enjoying being home with their toys.
