Family Visit: Part 2 and Part 3

After leaving Grammy's house in Knoxville, we headed south for Georgia where we spent a couple of nights regrouping before heading to the Alabama coast for a  beach week with Peter's family.    Here are some photos........

 

Susannah settled right into Mimi and Poppy's house.   Here she is having story-time with Poppy.

 Time there was short-lived though, because we had a house on the Gulf of Mexico waiting on us.......


I snapped this picture the first afternoon as I cooked dinner and drank my first margarita of the week.   It was as close to perfect as I could imagine.

In keeping with Mallory family tradition, a blow-up pool was immediately filled on the deck for relaxing and playing with a view.

Uncle Hollis and Uncle Peter split their time between playing with the girls and fishing in the kayak they rented for the week.

Susannah and Clara Kate had matching bathing suits but refused to stop playing long enough to pose for a photo.

Breakfast with Shoo-Shoo every morning was a hit with both girls.

They were intrigued and hesitant about the fish Daddy brought up on the deck.  Peter and Hollis caught their limit of Spanish Mackerel one morning and cooked them for lunch.  Delicious!

What is a southern beach trip without at least one fried seafood meal?   Here we are at Tacky Jack's waiting on our hushpuppies and fried oysters to arrive.

The girls burned some energy on the deck while we waited on our food.   

These cousins loved each other so much. (except when they were tired of sharing, of course.)

Susannah, Peter, Shoo-Shoo and I spent one morning at the historic civil war fort, Fort Morgan.

Susannah loved exploring the tunnels and rooms.

It was extremely hot and humid, but Susannah still took advantage of the wide open space to run.

 Now that we are back from the beach, we are spending our last week in the States soaking up as much family time as we can.   

Susannah has had lots of fun princess time with her sweet older cousin, Emma.

We spent this weekend at Lake Martin with Peter's best childhood friend and his family.  

 Mr. Brandon and Cannon taught Susannah the art of corn-hole.

 Which she loved.

 She also loved taking kayak rides around the dock with her Daddy.

 All three kids did.  

Peter got a good work-out in, that is for sure.   And the kids had an opportunity to practice the art of taking turns. 

Back from the lake, we are spending our last days relaxing at Mimi and Poppy's house.  

Susannah has been teaching Poppy how to take care of her new doll, cupcake.   

 

 

Our next post should be from our new home.   Or, more accurately, a hotel in our new city, as our next order of business is finding an apartment and having our furniture delivered.   All prayers for an easy transition are extremely appreciated!!    Happy Labor Day to everybody!
