Last weekend, Peter had Friday and Monday off for President's Day so we decided to take a little family trip to the Alps. We stayed in the village of Schwangau which is at the foot of two famous castles, the most famous of which was the inspiration for Cinderella's castle at Disneyland. Needless to say, our little princess-obsessed Susannah was beside herself for this trip. I think she was a little disappointed that Anna and Elsa from "Frozen" weren't actually living in the castle, but she had fun nonetheless. And we had amazing weather. We even took our coats off for a little while at lunch on Saturday! It was wonderful! Here are some of the highlights.....

| As soon as we arrived on Friday afternoon, we headed out for a walk to check out the mountain views... |

| It was so nice to walk without worrying about traffic or stoplights. |

| And Susannah loved all the horses that were on all the neighboring farms. |
 |
| The hike was a little longer than Susannah's energy stores, so a ride with Daddy was eventually in order. |

| The next morning we woke up and headed downstairs to breakfast. But not, of course, before donning our favorite princess dress for our trip to the castle. |
 |
| We were so blessed to have a clear sunny day on Saturday. This was the view from our hotel. |

| And this was our ride to up the mountain to the castle. |

| Meet Peter, our faithful horse. His name really was Peter and Susannah LOVED him. |

| The horse carriage only takes you part of the way up to the castle. A pretty steep trek still remains. Lucky for Susannah, her Daddy hasn't missed any cross-fit workouts lately, so he was up for the task. |

| But we made the best of it and had a really nice day despite the challenges. ;) |

| It helped that Susannah was a mini-celebrity with all the other tourists in this get-up. How could we stay frustrated when every other person on the tour was talking about how precious she was? (important to note, though, that they weren't the ones cleaning up goldfish on the 35th of 70 stairs in mid-climb because a certain princess was refusing to put away her snack during the tour and slung them everywhere.) |

| After lunch we headed out for more adventure....specifically this luge/slide that Peter was beside himself to try. After some convincing, Susannah decided to ride too, and LOVED it! |

Notice they aren't wearing coats!! It was so glorious to not wear a coat and feel the sun on your face. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the Crystal Therme. These spas are very common in Germany and have multiple pools with different temperatures of mineral water.

We all left feeling so relaxed and ready for dinner and early bedtime. It was a wonderful little family get-away and one that we are already planning to repeat this summer when the lake is full and the weather is warm.
