Last week was an eventful one to say the least. We spent two nights in Landstuhl, at the Air Force hospital a few hours from Stuttgart for Sarah Avery's ear surgery. She was a trooper and is feeling so much better now that she finally has healthy, clear ears. Then Friday afternoon, Peter and I went to the spring beer fest for one last taste of southern German culture at its finest. Saturday we had a birthday party for Susannah's best friend. And Sunday, Peter and the girls gave me a wonderful mother's day. Here are the pictures from the week.
Two of SA's favorite things; brushing her teeth and wearing princess dresses.
She is always accessorized.
The trip to Landstuhl for Sarah Avery's surgery was pretty painful, but the girls did enjoy these stuffed pony rides at the big American mall there.
Can you see how much Peter loved it too? ;)
Some friends let us borrow their fest gear so Peter and I could have the full experience for our last visit.
It was so much more fun being in the outfits.
It was super crowded and hot, but we had so much fun.
Exhibit A of the fun.
It was a great last German date night.
We rode the roller coaster and the Ferris wheel when we had had enough of the tents.
The girls had fun with their baby-sitter and were excited to see that we brought them the traditional gingerbread necklaces as a little surprise.
Saturday Susannah and I headed over to a neighborhood friend's house for a fifth birthday party.
SA took a long nap so I had the privilege of escorting this big girl to the party. She was so excited.
SA is just like her mama and only ate the icing off the cupcake.
Gifts!
Sarah Avery was so excited that she got a treat bag just like the big girls. A lollipop and a balloon? What a special day!
Party girls.
Sunday morning the girls were so excited to show me my presents and cards.
After church and nap, we took the ubahn up the hill for a nice long walk in the forest.
The girls had the best time running.
And climbing.
We stopped along the way to have dinner at the Teehause Restaurant. Sunshine and sausages with cake for dessert? Sounds like the perfect mother's day dinner.
SA's gift to me was that she sat in her chair nicely and ate all of her dinner without help. Best. Present. Ever.
The girls were delighted by the tadpoles they found in this fountain. And much to my disbelief, neither of them fell in.
After our meal we headed the rest of the way back down the hill to our apartment.
