First, the dog....
This guy was staying at our hotel and was sitting outside every morning waiting while his owners ate their breakfast. He was so adorable and friendly, especially after we looked at his tag and started calling him by his name: Johnny. When he heard his name, he automatically stuck out his paw to shake.
When his owner came out and saw us with him, we attempted to communicate how much we liked Johnny. When the owner heard us say Johnny, he said, with a laugh and a heavy German accent, yes, his name is Johnny Walker. After hearing this, we loved our new friend even more.
After we said good-bye to Johnny and his owner, we headed off to explore an amazing gorge. Even the walk up to it was so picturesque. We walked by charming Bavarian cabins with huge woodpiles next to the front door and snow covered fields with snowy mountains as their back-drop.
And then, the gorge itself was so amazing........the ice formations were fascinating as was the clear water below.
We are going to try our hand at skiing on the more gentle slopes in the Vosges Mountains tomorrow. Hopefully we will leave with less bruises this time around.
